
Riverside Grabs Third at 3C2A State Championship
No. 2-ranked Riverside City College gave it everything it had and grabbed a 19-18 overtime victory over No. 7-ranked West Valley College to take third at the 3C2A State Championship Tournament.
The Tigers close out the year with a 31-5 mark, while the Vikings finish at 24-9.
After being shut out yesterday, Yosra Elseifi was back to her scoring ways and finished with six goals, while Clare Baty capitalized four times for RCC. Nicole Robertson and Abigail Ruiz each added three goals, Presley Burrell scored twice and Chandler Burrell scored as well.
Presley Burrell came up big with a goal just a minute before time expired in the fourth to force overtime and scored the first goal of the first extra period.
The Vikings answered with back-to-back goals to hold an 18-17 lead heading into the final overtime period, but Robertson and Elseifi each scored, while the Tigers locked down their defense, to lift RCC 19-18.
Sofia Mather finished with 10 saves for Riverside.
