Tigers Secure Spot in State Semis
No. 2-ranked Riverside City College secured its spot in the 3C2A State Championship Tournament semifinals with a 10-7 victory over No. 4-ranked Sierra College.
The Tigers improve to 29-4 on the year, while the Wolverines end the year at 27-6.
Nicole Robertson and Yosra Elseifi each scored three goals for Riverside, Annabella Storar chipped in two goals, and Samantha Thomas and Chandler Burrell each scored a goal.
Sofia Mather made eight saves in the cage for the Tigers.
It was back-and-forth action early as both teams exchanged points in the first two quarters before Sierra took a 4-3 lead at halftime.
Burrell capitalized less than a minute into the third to even things up, followed by goals from Elseifi and Robertson to put RCC in front 6-4.
Sierra tried to keep things close, but a Thomas goal with 3:14 left to play in the fourth sealed the 10-7 victory for the Tigers.
RCC faces off against top-ranked Long Beach City College on Friday at 10:30 a.m., marking the fifth time the Tigers and Vikings will face each other with a spot in Saturday's championship on the line.
