Tigers Top Ventura & Cerritos Saturday; RCC Remains Undefeated at 9-0
RIVERSIDE -- Winning another pair of games in its inaugural tournament, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad remained undefeated Saturday (Sept. 17) at the Riverside Aquatic Center.
Riverside City (9-0 overall) opened Saturday's action against the Ventura College Pirates and posted a 15-8 win before registering a 17-3 victory over the Cerritros College Falcons.
RCC is one of seven remaining undefeated teams in the state, four (Golden West, 8-0, Orange Coast, 1-0, and Fullerton, 4-0) of which are members of the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).
Against Ventura, sophomore attacker Mary Myers (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) -- who is pictured -- led RCC with three goals, while sophomores Citlali Salazar, Sarina Briseno, and Jacque Godinez each scored twice.
In the Tigers' second game of the day, they had a 10-2 lead at halftime en route to a 17-3 victory over Cerritos. The Tigers had 13 different players score and Myers again led the way with three goals.
RCC is now 9-0 on the season as it heads into its bye week.
