Riverside City College picked up two wins on the first day of the Battle at the Beach, hosted by Long Beach City College. The Tigers downed Cuesta College 14-8 before dominating a 17-3 victory over No. 5-ranked San Joaquin Delta College.
RCC improves to 24-2 overall with the two wins.
In the first game of the tournament against the Cougars, Yosra Elseifi led the Tigers with six goals, while Aleira Valenzuela grabbed a hat trick. Samantha Thomas added two goals, while Chandler Burrell, Clare Baty, and Annabella Storar also rattled in goals.
The Tigers were unstoppable in the second game and scored six unanswered goals to jump out to an early lead.
Burrell led RCC with four goals, while Kaia Boone and Elseifi each finished with three. Nicole Robertson, Storar and Abigail Ruiz each chipped in a pair of goals as well.
Riverside looks to build on momentum in the second day of the Battle at the Beach, taking on Santa Barbara City College at 11:30 a.m.
