
No. 1-seeded Tigers Defeat Orange Coast, 12-3, Thursday; Advance to Saturday's OEC Championships Final Versus Fullerton
MISSION VIEJO -- Reaching the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships final for the fourth time in as many seasons under its current head coach, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad will be seeking its second consecutive OEC Championship.
This weekend's (Nov. 3, 5) OEC Championships are being held at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.
Riverside City (26-1 overall, 6-0 in OEC regular season action) posted a 12-4 win over the Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates Thursday (Nov. 3) to advance to Saturday's (Nov. 5) OEC final against the Fullerton College Hornets. Fullerton, the No. 3 seed, qualified for Saturday's final with a 12-3 win over No. 6 seed Cypress. The Hornets then upset No. 2 seed Golden West, 7-6.
Against Orange Coast, RCC was tied, 2-2, at the end of the first quarter before leading, 5-2, at halftime and 8-3 at the end of the third quarter.
Recapping the win over OCC, RCC sophomore attacker Mary Myers (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) led with four goals, four assists and five steals. Sophomore two-meter offense player Emily Martin (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS '15) added three goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Ariana Olmos (Redlands / Redlands East Valley HS '15) had eight saves and two assists.

Heading into Saturday's OEC Championships Final, RCC fourth-year head women's water polo coach Doug Finfrock brings an overall record of 107-16, 7-0 OEC (2013-15: 81-15 overall, 18-3 OEC); 2015: 26-4, 7-0 OEC, 1st place; 2014: 27-6 overall, 6-2 OEC, 2nd place; 2013: 28-5, 5-1 OEC, 2nd place.
