No. 3-ranked Riverside City College closed out its home tournament Saturday with a pair of victories over ranked squads. The Tigers (13-1) extended their winning streak to seven straight wins after defeating No. 2-ranked Santa Barbara City College 7-6 and No. 7-ranked Saddleback College 12-7.
It was a close battle early Saturday morning against the Vaqueros, with Santa Barbara holding a 4-2 lead at halftime. RCC outscored SBCC in the third 3-1 to put the two teams equal at 5-5 heading into the final eight minutes.
Nicole Robertson (one goal, one assist, three steals) gave Riverside the go-ahead goal and Yosra Elseifi (four goals, one assist, two steals) added another as the Tigers closed out the 7-6 victory.
Sofia Mather had eight saves in the cage for the Tigers.
In the second game of the day, Riverside jumped out in front early, holding a 10-4 lead at halftime and holding on for a 12-7 victory.
Elseifi led RCC with five goals, while Aleira Valenzuela and Robertson added two goals each. Kaia Boone, Clare Baty and Annabella Storar also scored for Riverside.
The Tigers resume Orange Empire Conference action on Wednesday, heading to Golden West College for a 3 p.m. contest.
