Tigers (4-0) Win Another Pair of Games at ARC River Rage Tournament; Visit Santa Ana Wednesday
SACRAMENTO -- Winning a pair of games on Saturday (Sept. 10), the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad won all four games at the Ninth Annual River Rage Tournament which was hosted by American River College (ARC).
Riverside City (4-0 overall) built a 9-0 lead late into the third quarter against the host ARC Beavers before posting a 12-3 win.
Sophomore two-meter offense Emily Martin (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS '15) co-led all RCC scorers with two goals. Sophomore attacker Sarina Briseno (Riverside / Poly HS '15) -- who is pictured -- also had two goals. Sophomore attacker Citlali Salazar (Eastvale / Eleanor Roosevelt HS '15) had one goal, two assists and three steals.
Sophomore goalie Ariana Olmos (Redlands / Redlands East Valley HS '15) had seven saves, one assists and two steals,
Against Las Positas College (LPC), the Tigers scored five goals in the first, nine in the second and two in the third en route to a 19-0 fourth-quarter lead. Fifteen Tigers scored, led by Briseno with three goals, one assist and one steal.
Frosh goalie Breana Ortiz (Fontana / Etiwanda HS) went the distance against LPC and registered six saves.
The Tigers resume action on Wednesday, Sept. 14, when they open Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play on the road against the Santa Ana College (SAC) Dons in a 3 p.m. start.
