
Tigers Top Host Owls, 10-4, and Defeats San Joaquin Delta, 11-7, in Citrus Mini Tournament Action Thursday
GLENDORA -- Winning a pair of games at the Citrus Mini Tournament Thursday, Sept. 29, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad continued its undefeated season with victories over the host Owls (10-4) and San Joaquin Delta College (SDJC) Mustangs Thursday (Sept. 29) at the Citrus Mini Tournament.
Riverside City, 12-0 overall, 2-0 in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC), trailed the Owls, 2-0, at the end of the first quarter before taking a 4-2 lead at halftime and an 8-3 lead at the end of three quarters. Eight Tigers scored as sophomore two-meter offense player Emily Martin (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS '15) and sophomore attacker Jacqueline Godinez (Menifee / Vista Murrieta HS '15) each tallied twice. Sophomore attacker Mary Myers (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) had one goal and four steals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ariana Olmos (Redlands / Redlands East Valley HS '15) had seven saves for RCC.
Against SJDC, seven Tigers scored, led by Martin, who had three goals. Myers had four assists and four steals. Olmos recorded nine saves for RCC.
Riverside will next be in action on Friday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Cuesta Tournament.
