
Riverside Opens OEC Series with Fullerton Victorious

No. 11-ranked Riverside City College bounced back from two straight losses with a 4-2 win over Fullerton College Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 19-10 overall and 6-4 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Hornets drop to 15-14 on the year, 5-5 in conference.
RCC loaded the bases in the first with no outs and struck first off an RBI groundout from Marc DiCarlo Jr. (1-for-4) to take an early 1-0 lead.
Luke Medure followed with another RBI groundout to up the Tigers' lead to 2-0.
Fullerton broke through in the top of the second to cut Riverside's lead in half, but RCC got some insurance in the in the bottom of the fifth.
With one runner on base and two outs, DiCarlo hit a single into left center to grab his second RBI of the game, 3-1. RCC added one more run in the inning with another RBI single, this time from Danny Inzunza (2-for-4) to put the Tigers in front 4-1.
The Hornets scored once again in the top of the eighth to make things interesting, but the Tigers held on for the 4-2 victory.
Erik Rodriguez picked up the win on the mound with six strikeouts through seven innings. Julian Herrera came in to pitch for the final two innings and didn't allow a single hit to earn his first save of the year.
Riverside faces Fullerton again on Thursday at 2 p.m., this time at the Hornets' ballpark.
