
Tigers Lock Up Second Place OEC Finish

No. 13-ranked Riverside City College stayed hot and defeated No. 10-ranked Santa Ana College 4-2 Thursday afternoon, locking in a second-place conference finish in the process.
The Tigers improve to 27-12 overall and 14-6 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Dons fall to 25-14 on the year, 12-8 in conference.
Santa Ana scored first in the top of the first, but Riverside tied it up in the fourth, 1-1. Luke Medure (1-for-4) sent the tying run in after he hit an RBI single with two outs.
In the bottom of the seventh, Riverside got some cushion room when Marcus Moyer (1-for-3) hit an RBI double and Bubba Heidler (2-for-4) followed up with an RBI single to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
The Dons made it a one-run game once again in the top of the eighth before Malakai Lopez scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to put RCC up 4-2.
Jorge Rodriguez had an excellent start on the mound for RCC, throwing seven innings and striking out six to earn his eighth win of the season. Evan Stratton closed the door for the Tigers in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.
Riverside looks to close out the regular season on a high note as it heads to Santa Ana on Friday at 1 p.m.
