Riverside Downs Barstow
Despite being kept fairly quiet offensively, Riverside City College grabbed a 5-1 victory over Barstow College Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 5-1 on the year, while the Vikings drop to 1-5 overall.
Bubbe Heidler went 2-for-5 at the plate to help RCC grab six hits in the game. Luke Medure also had two hits (2-for-3), while Marc DiCarlo Jr. and Ian Nguyen also had hits for Riverside.
RCC took an early 2-0 lead after DiCarlo sacrificed a fly ball to send one runner in and Nguyen knocked an infield RBI single.
Heidler upped the Tigers' lead to three in the fourth after coming home on a Viking error.
Barstow broke through in the fifth, but Riverside sealed the deal in the bottom of the eighth off a two-run double from Medure.
The Tigers went through the bullpen with Dylan Escobar picking up his second win of the year with four strikeouts in four innings pitched.
With the looming rain, RCC's schedule shifted from one game Friday and one game Saturday to a doubleheader on Saturday against Ventura College. First pitch is set for noon at Evans Sports Complex.
