
#12 RCC Falls in Extra Innings
Riverside City College took a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in extra innings to Irvine Valley College at home Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers fall to 22-12 overall and 10-6 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Lasers improve to 16-19 on the year, 3-13 in conference.
IVC scored two runs in the third inning to take an early lead and scored another run in the sixth to up the Lasers' lead to 3-0.
The Tigers finally scored their first run of the game after Eddie Alfaro hit an RBI groundout in the seventh, 3-1.
RCC made it a one-run game in the eighth as Marc DiCarlo Jr. (4-for-4) hit an RBI single to shallow center, 3-2.
In the bottom of the ninth, Ian Nguyen tied the game 3-3 with a sacrifice fly to send it into extra innings.
Neither team could score in the 10th to keep the game going to 11 innings.
IVC broke up the tie game with an RBI single in the top of the 11th to take back the lead, 4-3. The Lasers then took RCC down in order in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.
The Tigers look to bounce back as they head to Irvine Valley for the second game of the three-game series on Thursday.
