RCC Sees All Three Doubles, Three Singles Advance at State

Riverside City College saw both singles players and all three doubles teams move on to the second day of the 3C2A State Championship Tournament on Thursday.

After a first-round bye, Augustin Daubannay downed American River College's Landon Arendt 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the next round.

Michael Chang, who was named the ITA/3C2A Sophomore of the Year prior to the tournament starting, swept his first match 6-0, 6-0 after securing a first-round bye.

Ronith Sreeram – the 2025 ITA/3C2A Rookie of the Year – took on San Diego City College's Julian Mackinnon in the second round and dominated with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Charalampos Plataniotis won his first match 6-0, 6-0 over Mt. San Antonio College's Khusainov Zayniddin, but fell to Foothill's Abdala Quintero.

Giovanne Recchia took on Ventura College's Yanis Guerrout after both individuals received a first-round bye, but Recchia lost 6-2, 6-3. Lance Lao fell 6-2, 6-2 in the second round after a bye in the first round.

In doubles action, all three Tiger pairs not only won their first matches, but they also all picked up shutout wins.

Lao and Chang dominated their first matchup from Diablo Valley College 6-0, 6-0; Daubannay and Sreeram shut out their first opponents from College of the Sequoias, 6-0, 6-0; and Recchia and Plataniotis downed a team from Modesto Junior College 6-0, 6-0.

Riverside resumes the tournament on Friday with singles action beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Round of 16 will also take place Friday, with winners advancing to Saturday's quarterfinals.
