Riverside Eliminates Fullerton from Playoff Contention

The Riverside City College men's tennis team traveled to Fullerton College to take on the Hornets in the second to last Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match of the season. Riverside clinched the match early highlighted by a pair of doubles victories and four singles wins leading to a 6-3 triumph.

Riverside officially eliminated Fullerton from playoff contention with their win. They currently sit in second place in conference with a record of 4-3. They currently cart an overall record of 10-5.  

Freshman Gleb Mityurin and sophomore Ayrton Aviles teamed up as the top doubles squad and earned a close 8-6 victory. Sophomore tandem Miles Clark and Maechel Hanna had an easier road as the number two squad and worked to an 8-3 win.

Clark hauled in the first singles victory of the day as the number two with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Aviles followed at the fifth position with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while freshman David Garcia earned a two-set win at the sixth position with scores reading 6-2, 6-1.

Mityurin sealed the deal with a victory as the top singles player by the final score of 6-1, 6-1.
