Men’s Tennis Earns First Sweep of the Season

The Riverside City College men's tennis team hit the courts at Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday afternoon in hopes to snap a two-game skid. The Tigers produced their best result of the season as they worked to earn a perfect 9-0 victory behind veteran presence and fresh talent.

Freshman Maechel Hanna was a strong contributor for the Tigers as he picked up his first-career singles victory in two sets with scores reading 6-4, 6-4. He teamed up with sophomore Miles Clark as the top doubles team and reigned supreme with the final score reading 8-3.

Clark dominated his singles contest with scores reading 6-2, 6-0, while freshman David Garcia worked a 7-5, 6-4 win at the number three position.

Freshman Gleb Mityurin continued to dominate in his inaugural season as he teamed up with sophomore Ayrton Aviles for an 8-1 victory in number two doubles. Freshman Jacob Mcmahon and Garcia capped the doubles with an 8-5 victory as the number three squad.

Riverside (5-3, 0-2 OEC) will continue conference action on Tuesday, March 5 against the Irvine Valley College Lasers at home at 2 p.m.
