RCC Battles in Final OEC Game
Riverside City College opened with a bang but couldn't hold off Santa Ana College Thursday afternoon in a 5-4 loss.
The Tigers end the year with a 14-26 overall record and 4-14 Orange Empire Conference mark. The Dons improve to 14-26 on the year, 3-15 in conference with the series sweep.
RCC finished with nine hits, led by Jocelyn Romero (2-for-4), Isabella Ramirez (2-for-2) and Raquel Razo (2-for-4).
In their first chance at the plate, the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring all three runs on a two-out rally. Romero scored the first off a Don error before Razo blasted a two-RBI single to left field and up RCC's lead to 3-0.
Santa Ana chipped away at the deficit and tied the game in the second before taking a two-run lead heading into the last inning, 5-3.
Riverside kept battling and put two runners on with no outs. Ramirez sacrificed a fly ball to plate one, 5-4, but the Dons got the next two outs to secure the victory.
