Riverside Falls to Santa Ana in Extra Innings
Riverside City College battled for nine innings but fell 4-3 to Santa Ana College Monday afternoon.
The Tigers drop to 14-24 on the year and 4-12 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Dons improve to 12-26 overall, 1-15 in the OEC.
RCC finished with nine hits, with Rebeca Razo leading the charge with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Jocelyn Romero (2-for-4) and Alysse Flores (2-for-5) each had two hits, while Abigail Baldwin (1-for-4) and Angelina Sanchez (1-for-4) also had hits.
The Tigers scored first with an RBI single from Razo, but the Dons responded in the fourth.
Riverside took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth as Baldwin blasted a base hit to left to score Romero, but once again, Santa Ana answered back. The Dons tied the game in the sixth, and neither team could score in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
Santa Ana scored two in the top of the ninth to put pressure on Riverside in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs and a runner on, Flores tripled to send Razo home, but the Dons got the third out before the Tigers could score anymore.
RCC and Santa Ana continue the series back at Evans Sports Complex on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
