Riverside Pours on the Runs in Non-Conference Win
Riverside City College posted its highest offensive output of the season Tuesday afternoon, grabbing a 10-8 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College in non-conference action.
The Tigers improve to 12-23 overall, while the Eagles slip to 25-10 on the year.
RCC finished with 14 hits, with Jocelyn Romero leading the charge with a 4-for-5 performance with three RBIs. Alysse Flores and Isabella Ramirez each went 3-for-4, while Abigail Baldwin, Ruby McDonald, Destiny Amezcua and Angelina Sanchez also had hits.
Riverside threatened to put the run rule in play in its first chance at the plate, scoring six runs on six hits. Romero led off with a big triple and came home on a Rebecca Razo grounder. Back-to-back RBI singles from Flores, Ramirez and Sanchez made it 4-0, before Romero came back up to the plate and singled to center field to score another two runners.
The Eagles battled back and scored five runs in the fourth, but the Tigers created some distance with a run in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
MSJC tried to rally once again in the bottom of the seventh and pulled within two, 10-8, but it was all Riverside would allow as it secured the 10-8 victory.
RCC is back at Evans Sports Complex on Friday for a non-conference doubleheader with Moorpark College, set to begin at 1 p.m.
