Tigers Tame Jaguars in Big Cat Battle
Riverside City College scored first and held on for a 3-2 win over Southwestern College Monday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 2-6 on the year, while the Jaguars drop to 2-4 overall.
RCC had four hits in the low-scoring game, with Abigail Baldwin knocking two of them (2-for-3). Carissa O'Neil (1-for-3) and Ruby McDonald (1-for-3) also had hits for the Tigers.
Anneliese Burns picked up the win for the Tigers, tossing two strikeouts in five innings of action, while Raquel Razo grabbed a save.
The Tigers scored first with two runs in the top of the second before Baldwin tripled with Grace Rogers on base to up Riverside's lead to 3-0.
It came in handy as Southwestern plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it was all the Tigers would allow as they held on for their second win of the year.
RCC continues on the road on Friday at Palomar at 2 p.m., before returning home for a six-game homestand.
