RCC Grabs Second Consecutive Win Heading Into Conference Action

Riverside City College picked up its second-straight win with a 4-3 victory over LA Mission College on Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 4-10 on the year, while the Eagles drop to 3-11 overall.

RCC finished with five hits in the game, one each from Jocelyn Uglesich (1-for-3), Rebeca Razo (1-for-3), Alysse Flores (1-for-2), Isabella Ramirez (1-for-3) and Angelina Sanchez (1-for-3).

After taking down the Eagles in order to start the game, the Tigers put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. With bases loaded and no outs, Flores drew ball four to send one runner in before Ramirez blasted a base hit down the left field line to send in two more runs.

RCC added an insurance run in the bottom of the second off a Flores RBI triple, which came in handy as the Eagles tried to rally back into the game.

LA Mission scored one run in the top of the third and made things interesting with another two in the sixth to pull within one, but Jessica Gaitan held onto the win with five strikeouts in the circle for Riverside.

The Tigers look to carry momentum into next week as they start Orange Empire Conference action, hosting Saddleback College on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
