Riverside City College battled the College of the Canyons twice Saturday afternoon, falling 10-1 (five innings) and 7-5.
The Tigers drop to 2-9 on the year with the losses, while the Cougars improve to 8-3 with the pair of wins.
In the opener, RCC only got three hits, with two of them coming from Jocelyn Romero (2-for-3). Carissa O'Neil had the other hit for the Tigers.
Riverside looked to snap back in the nightcap and scored in its first chance at the plate as Romero tagged up on an Alysse Flores sacrifice fly.
Despite the Cougars looking like they might put the run rule in play for the second game in a row, the Tigers kept battling and scored twice in the fifth and once in both the sixth and seventh to pull within two.
With two outs and runners at second and third, Romero kept the inning going as the Cougars committed a costly error and a Tiger ran home. Jocelyn Uglesich followed and blasted a base hit to put the Tigers within reach, 7-3, and keep the game going.
With two outs, RCC put on its rally caps and Grace Rogers doubled to right center to score Uglesich, but it was the closest the Cougars would allow them.
The Tigers finished with seven hits, with Isabella Ramirez knocking two of them.
RCC has a busy week, playing Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, The Tigers first host No. 7-ranked Long Beach City College on Monday at 3 p.m.
