Game 2
Riverside City College picked up two wins over Moorpark College Friday afternoon, a 6-3 victory in the opener and a 6-0 shutout in the nightcap.
The Tigers improve to 14-23 on the year with the wins, while the Raiders drop to 21-13 overall.
In the first game, Carissa O'Neil led the Tigers with a 3-for-4 performance, while both Angelina Sanchez (2-for-3) and Jocelyn Uglesich (2-for-3) also had multiple hits in the game.
Sanchez got the scoring started with a three-RBI double in the bottom of the fourth to give RCC a quick 3-0 lead.
Moorpark answered back with two runs in the fifth, but the Tigers tacked on some cushion in the bottom half of the inning. With one runner on and two outs, Abigail Baldwin singled up the middle to send O'Neil home before Baldwin took advantage of a defensive mishap and Isabella Ramirez scored off a Sanchez base hit.
The Raiders tried to rally in the seventh and scored one, but Riverside held the visitors off to secure the 6-3 victory.
Alianna Arroyo picked up the win in the circle, while Anneliese Burns grabbed a save.
In the nightcap, RCC put up a big six-run inning in the third to all but seal the victory. With one out and bases loaded, Baldwin doubled to the gap in right center to score all three runners, 3-0.
The Tigers loaded the bases up again, but the Raiders got the force out at home to get one step closer to ending the inning.
Sanchez stepped into the batter's box and blasted a hard-to-handle base hit to shortstop, sending two runners in, 5-0. O'Neil then singled to send another runner home, 6-0, before Moorpark could get out of the inning.
Jessica Gaitan picked up the win, striking out six batters to grab the shutout.
The Tigers return to Orange Empire Conference action on Monday for their final series of the year. RCC hosts Santa Ana College on Monday and Tuesday before closing it out at the Dons' diamond on Thursday.
