Riverside Falls in Five to Fullerton
Written by Ayden Mason
Riverside City College took a disappointing 12-1, run-rule defeat at Fullerton College Friday afternoon.
The Tigers drop to 11-20 overall and 4-8 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Hornets improve to 12-16 on the year, 6-6 in conference.
The Hornets scored six runs in the first two innings to take a commanding 6-0 lead over the Tigers, but Alysse Flores (1-for-3) helped cut the deficit to 6-1 with an RBI single in the top of the third.
Fullerton kept coming, however, and scored six more runs in the bottom of the inning to up its lead to 12-1 and put the mercy rule in play.
Riverside tried to rally but couldn't send any more runners home to end the game after the top of the fifth.
Jocelyn Romero (2-for-3) and Rebeca Razo (2-for-3) combined for four hits for RCC.
The Tigers look to bounce back from the tough loss as they visit Orange Coast College on Tuesday, April 8, at 2 p.m.
