Riverside Keeps No. 4 Cypress Within Reach

Riverside City College battled No. 4-ranked Cypress College Tuesday afternoon but came up just short in a 3-1 loss.

The Tigers drop to 8-16 on the year, 3-4 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Chargers improve to 20-4 overall, 4-2 in conference.

RCC finished with four hits, two of which came from Rebecca Razo (2-for-3). Jocelyn Romero (1-for-3) and Carissa O'Neil (1-for-3) accounted for the other two.

Cypress scored one run each in the first, second and third innings and held the 3-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth.

Romero led the inning off with a big triple to right field and came home as Razo grounded out. Cypress got the third out before RCC could really get some momentum going and took the home team down in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 3-1 result.

The Tigers and Chargers continue the series in Cypress on Thursday at 2 p.m. before returning to Evans Sports Complex on Friday to close out the three-game series at 2 p.m.
