Riverside Takes Down Mt. San Jacinto

Riverside City College grabbed a 5-1 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 7-14 on the year, while the Eagles drop 13-5 overall.

RCC finished with nine hits, with Alysse Flores (2-for-3), Angelina Sanchez (2-for-3), and Jocelyn Uglesich (2-for-3) each posting two hits. Abigail Baldwin (1-for-3), Isabella Ramirez (1-for-3) and Destiny Amezcua (1-for-2) also had hits.

The Tigers struck first in the bottom of the second. Flores singled up the middle and stole second before coming home as Ramirez singled and the Eagles committed an error.

Riverside upped its lead to 2-0 as Amezcua scored, but Mt. San Jacinto broke through in the sixth to cut the lead to 2-1.

RCC then put the game away in the sixth as the Tigers put two runners on with one out. Sanchez singled to second base, sending Ruby McDonald home before Uglesich doubled to drive another run in. Sanchez capped the scoring to put Riverside up 5-1.

The Eagles put two runners on in the top of the seventh, but the Tigers held firm to hold onto the 5-1 victory.

Riverside returns to Golden West College tomorrow to resume its game that was halted in the third due to rain last week. The Tigers are back home on Friday to host Mt. San Antonio College at 2 p.m.
