Tigers Earn Spots in SoCal Finals

Riverside City College saw multiple athletes qualify for the SoCal Regional Championship Meet at Saturday's prelims.

Catalina Teran and Joace Warrior both earned a spot in the long jump finals. Teran grabbed a mark of 5.30 meters and Warrior hit 4.97 meters in the prelims.

Teran also posted the best time in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.86 seconds. Kiarah Rivers will join Teran in the championship race after posting a time of 11.98 seconds.

Teran also won her heat and had the best time in the 200-meter race (24.51 seconds), while Kiarah Rivers took third (24.90 seconds).

Citlaly Ruiz qualified for the 3K steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 12:21.44 in the prelims.

Warrior also qualified in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.88 seconds. Kierstin Marpaung will join her after clocking in at 15.17 seconds in her prelims heat.

Taleyah Graves won her heat and finished prelims with the best time in the 400-meter hurdles, 1:04.34.

Marpaung secured her spot in the high jump championship with a 1.50 meter mark, while Beau Hocking just missed out on the finals at 1.45 meters. Marpaung also earned a spot in the triple jump, posting the best prelims mark of 11.02 meters.

Nadia Munoz posted the third-best time in the 10K, which still was good to qualify her for next week's SoCal Championship.

Three Tigers will compete for the hammer title: Esra Mor, Skylar Svidergol and Alexandra Franco. Mor threw 43.65 meters, while Svidergol and Franco qualified with marks of 39.32 and 39.14 meters, respectively.

Svidergol also qualified for the shot put (11.32 meters), along with Nyah Brown (11.45 meters), Victoria Redd (11.42 meters) and Nyeta Urquides (10.41 meters).

Redd (39.59 meters), Mor (39.15 meters), Svidergol (35.75 meters), and Brown (34.90 meters) will also challenge for the discus championship.

Kyndall Hayes picked up the last spot in the 400-meter race, crossing the finish line in 58.97 seconds.

The Tigers posted the best time in both the 4x100 relay (47.40 seconds) and the 4x400 relay (3:46.09) to move onto next week.
