
Tigers Take Second at SoCal Championship
Riverside City College took second at the 3C2A SoCal Championship on Saturday.
The Tigers posted 133 points, less than five points from first-place Mt San Antonio College (137.50). San Diego Mesa College took third with 112 points.
Kierstin Marpaung won the triple jump with a mark of 10.93 meters and followed with a first-place jump of 10.93 meters in the triple jump.
Taleyah Graves won the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at one minute, 4.53 seconds.
Joace Warrior grabbed a runner-up finish in the long jump after hitting 5.45 meters. Catalina Teran followed in third with a mark of 5.41 meters.
Teran won the 100-meter dash in 12.056 seconds, just edging out Mesa's Ashley Nash by .002 seconds. Kiarah Rivers took seventh in 12.42 seconds.
Teran also posted a time of 24.08 seconds to win the 200-meter dash, while Rivers took fourth in 24.72 seconds.
Warrior also took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.80 seconds. Marpaung was right on her fellow Tigers' tail, clocking in at 14.82 seconds.
Esra Mor grabbed fourth in the hammer with a mark of 45.43 meters, while Skylar Svidergol posted a toss of 41.57 meters.
Mor also took fifth in the discus with a hurl of 41.01 meters, Victoria Redd followed in sixth (40.68 meters), while Svidergol took seventh.
Nadia Munoz finished fourth in the 5K with a time of 19:35.98.
After four Tigers qualified for the shot put finale, Redd led the group with a fifth-place finish (12.08 meters). Nyah Brown followed in sixth (11.93 meters), while Svidergol (11.19 meters) and Nyetya Urquides (10.66 meters) took eighth and ninth, respectively.
Beau Hocking took sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters on her second try.
RCC won the 4x100 relay in 46.64 seconds and closed the meet with a victory in the 4x400 relay (3:50.49) – beating their opponents by almost two seconds.
Riverside heads to Northern California for the 3C2A State Championship meet, held May 16-17 at the College of San Mateo.
