Tigers Compete Well at Ben Brown Invite

Riverside City College held its own against tough competition at the Ben Brown Invitational, including NCAA Division I opponents.

Savannah Ganter took seventh overall in the 3K steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 11 minutes, 35.33 seconds and hitting an automatic 3C2A "A" mark in the process.

Nadia Munoz took eighth in her section of the 5K, posting a time of 18:28.25, which was the fastest time by a two-year student-athlete and hit a 3C2A "A" qualifying mark. She took third in her heat behind two NCAA Division I athletes, while Joace Warrior took second in her heat with a time of 15.51 seconds (3C2A "B" mark).

Tiana Burgess took 20th overall in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 14.93 seconds (3C2A "A" mark). She also finished eighth overall and won her flight in the triple jump after clearing 11.64 meters for another automatic qualifier.

Rylee Blanton grabbed 13th place in the hammer throw, hurling a personal-best throw of 47.18 meters on her second attempt.

Isabelle Campos finished 17th in the discus with a throw of 39.60 meters ("A" mark), which was the third-best in her flight behind two Division I athletes.

Jolene Ruth Lavaki took second in her heat of the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.38 seconds and finished third in her 200-meter heat with a time of 25.56 seconds.

Cierra Ellis and Aiyana Allen-Jefferson each took second in their respective heats of the 400-meter rash, with Ellis posting a time of 59.90 seconds and Allen-Jefferson clocking in at 1:01.18.

Kasey Plumb took second in her 800-meter heat with a time of 2:27.99, just .03 seconds behind the heat's top runner Riley Rivera from NCAA Division I UC Riverside. Lidia Barrios won her heat, clocking in at 2:36.93.

The 4x100 relay team of Burgess, Lavaki, Briana Miller and Ellis took fourth overall with a time of 48.45 ("A" mark), while the Tigers' 4x400 team (Miller, Lavaki, Allen-Jefferson, Ellis) also took fourth overall and won their heat with a time of 3:59.25 ("A" mark).
