
Tigers Post Top Times at Mt. SAC Relays
Riverside City College competed at the Mt. SAC Relays Saturday, its last meet before looking to defend its Orange Empire Conference Championship later this month.
Nadia Munoz won the 5K in 18 minutes, 23.58 seconds. She currently holds the 13th-best time in the 3C2A rankings.
Citlaly Ruiz took first in the 3K steeplechase after clocking in at 12:44.74. Ruiz also ranks in the top 20 in the 3C2A at 14th.
Kierstin Marpaung won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.74 seconds (fourth in the State), while Joace Warrior followed in second with a time of 15.20 seconds (sixth in the State). Marpaung and Beau Hocking both took first in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters. Marpaung also took third in the triple jump at 11.11 meters.
Taleyah Graves won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.38, the third-best time in the 3C2A. Elizabeth Hammond also finished in the top 10 with an eighth-place finish in 1:11.37.
Victoria Redd won the shot put with a mark of 12.16 meters. The Tigers took the next three spots too as Skylar Svidergol's toss of 11.10 meters was good for second and Nyah Brown grabbed third at 11.05 meters. Nyeta Urquides finished fourth at 10.47 meters.
Redd also won the discus with a toss of 41.38 meters, while Esra Mor took second at 39.86 meters. Svidergol grabbed fifth (34.76 meters) and Urquides finished eighth (30.25 meters).
Mor won the hammer with a heave of 42.21 meters on her last attempt. Alexandra Franco finished second after throwing 34.91 meters on her first attempt and Svidergol took seventh at 33.31 meters.
Both Tiger relay teams won their events. The 4x100 team (Sarah Hernandez, Catalina Teran, Kiarah Rivers, Graves) finished in 47.24 seconds (third in the State), while the 4x400 team (Kyndall Hayes, Rivers, Janel Lugo-Bourbonnia, Kayla Sykes) clocked in at 3:55.74.
Lugo-Bourbonnias and Kyndall Hayes finished second and third in the 400-meters with respective times of 58.29 (11th in the 3C2A) and 59.25 seconds. Kayla Sykes took seventh in 1:00.06, followed by Lauren Hughes in 1:01.98.
Warrior took second in the long jump after posting a mark of 5.51 meters, while Catalina Teran took third at 5.44 meters. Warrior sits tied for third in the long jump State rankings.
Rivers took third in the 200-meter race with a time of 24.88 seconds and fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.28 seconds. She currently ranks fourth in the 100 meters and eighth in the 200 meters in the State.
Teran grabbed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.05 meters.
Zoriada Vega grabbed eighth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:35.40.
The Tigers head to the OEC Prelims on Friday, while the championship will conclude the following weekend back at Orange Coast College.
