Women’s Track & Field Qualifies Handful for SoCal Regionals
The Riverside City College women's track and field team kicked off 3C2A Southern Regional Championship action last weekend at the prelims hosted by San Diego Mesa College. The Tigers earned 10 points and are currently in sixth place leading into the SoCal Regional finals this weekend.
Cerritos holds an early lead after earning 38 points, while Mt. San Antonio trails in second place with 23 points. San Diego Mesa is in third place with 16 points.
Sophomore Alejandra Rosales and freshman Rylee Blanton finished consecutively in the Hammer. Rosales placed fourth overall (145' 4"), while Blanton finished slightly behind in fifth place (141' 8").
Freshman Kaylie Duffy qualified in the Pole Vault (2.65 m) leading to a fifth place showing.
Sophomore Zoe Ewell placed seventh in the 100 M (12.05) and eighth in the 200 M (25.27) to qualify in both events. The Tigers 400 M relay (49.62) placed seventh overall with the likes of Ewell, Quezada, Lavaki and Miller leading the charge down the track.
Sophomore Elani Huntley placed eighth in the 1,500 M (4:56.96) to round out the top finishes.
