Riverside Sweeps Top OEC Postseason Honors

Riverside City College swept the postseason Orange Empire Conference awards after winning the OEC Championship in perfect fashion.

Evan Parry was named the Coach of the Year, while Michael Chang and Lance Lao grabbed Doubles Team of the Year, and Chang picked up Singles Player of the Year as well.

Parry grabbed his third-straight OEC Coach of the Year honor after earning the title last year and in 2023. This year, RCC dominated the conference with a perfect 8-0 record, including five shutout 9-0 victories. Riverside also saw all three doubles teams and all six singles players secure a spot at the 3C2A State Tournament later this month in Ojai, Calif.

In their second year as a pair, Chang/Lao dominated at the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo only dropped one conference match all year, boasting a 7-1 OEC mark and a 12-6 overall record.

Along with Chang and Lao, the other two Tiger doubles teams also earned all-conference honors: Ronith Sreeram/Augustin Daubannay and Giovanne Recchia/Charalampos Plataniotis.

As a singles player, Chang dominated his way through the conference season, not conceding a single loss in OEC play. The sophomore heads into the postseason with a 15-2 record and earned his spot in the singles tournament at Ojai for the second-straight year.

Sreeram also earned all-conference honors after earning their spot in the 3C2A State Tournament.
