Tigers Lose, 17-8, to Undefeated Golden West Saturday at OEC Championships Final
MISSION VIEJO -- Watching its opponent score early and often, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's water polo team lost, 17-8, to the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) champion Golden West College (GWC) Rustlers Saturday (Nov. 5) in the OEC Championships Final.
The 31st annual OEC Championships were hosted by Saddleback College Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 3-5, in Mission Viejo.
Riverside City (18-9 overall, 3-2 in OEC regular season) -- the No. 3 seed -- saw the GWC Rustlers lead, 6-1, at the end of the first quarter, 11-2 at halftime and 14-3 at the end of three quarters. Of the Tigers' eight goals ALL were unassisted.
Sophomore driver Lazar Raca (Belgrade, SERBIA / Sports School '15) -- who is pictured -- led the Tigers with four goals. Freshman goalkeeper Kristopher McVeigh (Riverside / Riverside Poly HS '16) allowed 16 goals, but made eight saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Dustin Shaw (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) allowed one goal and made one save.
