
Tigers Take on Tough Opponents at Triton Invitational
Riverside City College competed against tough competition at the UCSD Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Marcellus Linton was runner-up in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 10.61 seconds – just .2 seconds behind first place. He also finished third overall in the 200-meter, clocking in at 21.20 seconds. Jason Sherman followed in 14th place with a time of 21.78 seconds.
Kailil O'Brien took sixth in the 3K steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 9:38.82. Leo Valencia Franco finished 12th overall with a time of 10:09.51.
Daniel Agbelusi posted a top-10 time in the 400-meter hurdles, coming in at 54.30 seconds.
Isaiah Butler took 14th overall in the elite discus event against multiple NCAA Division I and Nike athletes, posting a mark of 52.04 meters. Joseph Garcia took 15th overall in the other discus event, hurling a mark of 46.43 meters.
Three Tigers finished in the top 20 of the 110-meter hurdles: Rowan Hudson (11th, 15.25 seconds), Tschaikowsky Brown (16th, 15.52 seconds) and Daniel Agbelusi (17th, 15.78 seconds).
Justice Brown took 13th in the shot put at 14.36 meters.
Orlando Collins grabbed a time of 48.73 seconds in the 400-meter to take 13th.
Anthony Ruiz posted a time of 1:55.06 in the 800-meter to take 17th overall.
Adam Torres finished 19th in the hammer with a mark of 43.35 meters.
RCC's 4x400 relay team (Linton, Collins, Agbelusi, Sherman) won the event in 3:13.10, while the Tigers' 4x100 relay team (Midgett, Chister, Sherman, Linton) posted a time of 41.38 seconds to take fifth overall, just .05 seconds behind fourth place.
RCC heads to the Mt. San Antonio College Invite next weekend before shifting its focus to the postseason.
