Tigers Find Success at Two Meets

Riverside City College split time at two different meets on Friday: the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos, and the Arnie Robinson Invite, hosted by San Diego Mesa College.

Mangrum Invitational

The Tigers' 4x100 relay team (Jarius Midgett, Adrian Chister, Jason Sherman, Marcellus Linton) won with a time of 41.00 seconds, while the 4x400 team (Linton, Sherman, Daniel Agbelusi, Orlando Collins) took fourth in 3:23.02.

Devyn Smith won the triple jump after posting a 14.10-meter jump on his third attempt. Tony Wright took fifth with a jump of 13.31 meters.

RCC saw three sprinters finish in the top 10, and another two just outside, of the 200-meter race. Linton led the Tigers with a 21.23-second finish to take second, while Sherman took third in 21.87 seconds and Aaron Lujan took ninth in 22.34 seconds. Collins (11th, 22.38 seconds) and Jared Schulte (12th, 22.43 seconds) finished just outside the top 10.

Collins also grabbed a second-place finish in the 400-meter race with a time of 48.53 seconds. Schulte followed in 49.72 seconds for sixth.

Bryson Williamson finished second in the high jump with a mark of 2.04 meters and Kendrick Bracy took sixth (1.89 meters).

Rowan Hudson and Tschaikowsky Brown were neck-and-neck in the 110-meter hurdles event, with Hudson just edging out his teammate with a time of 14.84 seconds (fifth). Brown took sixth in 14.87 seconds.

Agbelusi grabbed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.33 seconds, while Ahkil McClellan took fifth in 57.00 seconds.

Justice Brown finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 15.36 meters. Isaiah Butler grabbed 10th with a toss of 14.40 meters but won the discus with a mark of 52.37 meters.

Adam Torres took fifth in the hammer with a throw of 51.15 meters and Anthony McCullough finished sixth in the javelin with a toss of 45.69 meters.

Jason Sherman posted the best time in the 100-meter dash at 10.89 seconds to take ninth, while Adrian Chister was just outside the top 10 with the 11th-best time of 11.03 seconds.

Anthony Ruiz took 13th in the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:56.99.

Arnie Robinson Invite

Kailil O'Brien grabbed one of the best finishes for RCC at the Arnie Invite, taking second overall in the 10K with a time of 31:47.81. Joshua West was right behind him in third with a time of 32:47.26.

Leo Valencia also posted a runner-up finish, taking second in the 3K steeplechase with a time of 10:13.00. Angel Gomez grabbed third in 10:30.32.

Jason Allen finished third overall in the triple jump with a mark of 13.67 meters.

A trio of Tigers placed in the top 10 of the discus, with another just outside. Xavier Harvey took fourth with a toss of 39.18 meters, while James Padilla was right behind in fifth at 38.94 meters.

Lorenzo Smith led RCC with a third-place finish in the hammer, posting a mark of 36.26 meters. Russell Hardin followed in fourth at 35.43 meters, while Padilla took eighth at 31.78 meters and Mateo Vargas grabbed ninth at 29.91 meters.

James Henderson took fifth in the javelin with a toss of 42.22 meters, followed by Vela in eighth (36.22 meters).

Two Tigers finished in the top 10 of the 110-meter hurdles: Levi Vela (ninth, 16.32 seconds) and James Henderson (10th, 16.99 seconds).

Daunivan McGirt took 12th overall in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 1:02.77.

Conner Lombardi led the Tigers in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.46 seconds. Deyton Ford was right behind his teammate in 11.47 seconds.

Lance Durazo was just outside a top 15 finish in the 200 meters, finishing in 22.76 seconds to take 16th overall. He also raced in the 400-meter and took 12th overall with a time of 51.07 seconds.

Angelo Salaam posted a time of 2:09.89 in the 800-meter to finish in the top 20, while Roberto Granados also grabbed a top-20 time in the 1500-meters at 4:23.22 and Edward Garcia finished 18th in the 5K with a time of 16:12.83.

The Tigers' 4x400 relay team (Durazo, Lombardi, McGirt, Edward Garay) finished in 3:45.10 to take 13th overall.

Harvey and Jacob Knox took 11th and 12th, respectively, in the pole vault. Harvey grabbed a mark of 3.80 meters, while Knox posted a 3.65 meter mark.

Ford took 12th in the long jump at 6.10 meters.
