
RCC Dominates 17th Consecutive OEC Championship
Riverside City College dominated its 17th consecutive Orange Empire Conference Championship Saturday, sweeping multiple events.
The Tigers dominated with 447 points, while Orange Coast College followed with 171 points and Fullerton College finished third with 60 points.
Marcellus Linton was named the OEC Men's Track Athlete of the Year, while Isaiah Butler was named the OEC Men's Field Athlete of the Year. Xavier Harvey picked up the OEC Men's Multis Athlete of the Year.
Linton won the 100-meter dash in 10.96 seconds, followed by Jason Sherman in second with a time of 11.12 seconds. Aaron Lujan (11.50 seconds), Justin Dean (11.58 seconds) and Deyton Ford (11.82 seconds) also finished in the top eight.
Linton also won the 200-meter, crossing the finish line in 21.71 seconds. Sherman once again came in second (21.91 seconds), while Orlando Collins grabbed fourth in 22.47 seconds.
Riverside went 1-2-3 in the discus as Butler led the field with a hurl of 50.99 meters. Omar Sanchez took second with a mark of 46.61 meters, while Joseph Garcia finished in third with a toss of 46.38 meters.
The Tigers also swept the shot put, with Justice Brown leading the group with a first-place mark of 15.53 meters. Butler followed in second (15.37 meters), while Jace Collins took third (13.77 meters).
Kailil O'Brien won the 5K with a time of 15:12.04, while Edward Garcia took fifth (15:58.12) and Diego Tierrafria finished in sixth (15:58.58).
RCC swept the 110-meter hurdles with Rowan Hudson winning in 15.62 seconds. Tschaikowsky Brown took second after crossing the finish line in 16.25, while Daniel Agbelusi took third in 16.50 seconds. Levi Vela grabbed fifth in 16.70 seconds.
Hudson led a trio of Tigers in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 53.58 seconds to take first. Agbelusi finished in second (54.38 seconds), while Ahkil McClellan took third (55.81 seconds).
The Tigers also swept the triple jump, led by Devyn Smith with a mark of 13.69 meters. Tony Wright followed in second with a jump of 13.46 meters, while Jason Allen took third with a mark of 13.41 meters.
Jared Schulte took second in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 48.94 seconds. Collins took fourth in 49.60 seconds, while Jarius Midgett finished fifth in 50.07 seconds.
RCC swept the 1500-meter race with Martin Sandoval winning in 4:03.10. Anthony Ruiz was right behind in second with a time of 4:04.21, while Luke Catherwood in third (4:06.99).
Sandoval also won the 800-meter with a time of 1:58.81, while Ruiz wasn't far behind in 1:59.19. Dyeem Tolbert took fifth with a time of 2:01.44 and Nathan Luce finished sixth in 2:02.15.
Jacob Knox took second in the pole vault, clearing 3.65 meters on his first attempt.
Riverside won the 4x100 relay (Midgett, Adrian Chister, Sherman, Linton) with a time of 41.52 seconds. The Tigers also won the 4x400 relay (Jace Collins, Sherman, Schulte, Linton) in 3:18.02.
