Riverside Grabs Wins at First Meet of the Season

Riverside City College got the 2025 season underway Thursday and Friday at the Moorpark Season Opener Invite and saw many wins on the day.

Anthony Ruiz won his 1500-meter heat in four minutes, 3.78 seconds., while Martin Sandoval won his heat in 4:04.31.

Tschaikowsky Brown won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.64 seconds and Levi Vela followed in 9.60 seconds. Brown also won his heat in the 200 meter (23.20 seconds).

Marcellus Linton finished with the best 60-meter time, clocking in at 6.78 seconds, and Martin Sandoval won his 600-meter heat with a time of 1:25.07.

Adam Torres won the hammer with a mark of 48.56 meters, followed by Isaiah Butler (46.97 meters), Joseph Garcia (39.63 meters), and Arath Rendon Garcia (38.51 meters).

Abraham Rodriguez won his shot put heat with a toss of 12.81 meters, followed by Omar Sanchez's throw of 12.49 meters.

RCC dominated the discus, led by Butler with a mark of 51.03 meters. Garcia followed at 46.80 meters, while Jace Collins took third at 45.11 meters.

Tony Wright won the triple jump with a mark of 13.39 meters, while Kailil O'Brien won the 2K steeplechase in 6:36.47. Leo Valencia was just on his tail in 6:36.63 to take second.

The Tigers come home to host the RCC Early Bird Meet on Friday, February 7.
