
Riverside Has Strong Showing at First Home Meet
Riverside City College hosted the RCC Early Bird Invite Friday against some tough opponents and saw some strong performances.
Marcellus Linton won the 60-meter race in 6.82 seconds and the 300-meter race in 34.56 seconds. Orlando Collins followed in the 300m with a time of 34.78 seconds.
Rowan Hudson and Tschaikowsky Brown were one and two in the 60-meter hurdles with respective times of 8.52 and 8.64 seconds. Hudson followed with a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles as well (55.13 seconds).
Riverside's 4x400 relay team of Jared Schulte, Linton, Jarius Midgett and Collins took first in 3:20.51.
Bryson Williamson won the high jump with a mark of 1.96 meters, while Devyn Smith won the long jump (6.38 meters) and the triple jump (13.69 meters).
Zolan Frank and Omar Sanchez went one, two in the shot put with respective throws of 13.34 and 13.33 meters. Isaiah Butler won the discus with a toss of 47.83 meters and Joseph Garcia followed in 44.65 minutes. Butler also took second in the hammer (46.04 meters) behind Adam Torres' throw of 49.14 meters.
Joshua West took fourth in the 2-mile with a time of 9:50.72, while Dyeem Tolbert finished in the top 10 in the 1-mile after crossing the finish line in 4:43.84.
The Tigers head to the Ron Kamaka Multi next at Mt. San Antonio College on Thursday and Friday, while also competing at the OEC Invitational on Friday at Orange Coast College.
