
Eleven Tigers To Take on Next Level
Eleven Riverside City College baseball players are ready to continue their collegiate careers at four-year colleges.
Ryan Jenkins is headed to Saint Mary's University, while Richard Tejeda joins the roster at USC. Julian Cazares committed to UC San Diego, Dakota Gray heads to Utah Tech, and Alex Navarrete is set to play at UNLV. Matt Hudson will stay local at UC Riverside, while Jordan Townley (Cal State San Marcos), Gage Gonzales (Cal Poly Pomona), Colt Tucker (Cal Poly Pomona) and Cody Betten (Cal Poly Pomona) will all play in the same conference. Charlie McBride rounds out the 10 Tigers and will travel the furthest, heading to Oklahoma Christian University.
Jenkins, a freshman right-handed pitcher, had a solid collegiate debut, appearing in 15 games on the mound for the Tigers. He finished the year with a 6-1 record and boasted a 2.51 ERA with a team-high 51 strikeouts in 61.0 innings pitched.
Tejeda, a freshman catcher, finished the year with a .326 batting average. He had 42 hits on the season, including five doubles and four home runs, scored 25 runs, and batted in 23 others.
Cazares, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, made 15 appearances on the mound for RCC, including 11 starts. He picked up six wins and two saves on the year and finished with a 3.20 ERA and a team-high 51 strikeouts.
Gray, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, made 18 appearances on the hill for the Tigers and grabbed three wins and a save. He tossed 35 strikeouts in 33.2 innings pitched.
Navarrete, a redshirt freshman right-handed pitcher, made seven starts on the mound and 14 appearances for the Tigers. He finished the year with 36 strikeouts and a 4.04 ERA.
Hudson, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, appeared in 20 games for the Tigers, grabbing two wins and a team-high four saves on the mound. He finished with a 3.38 ERA and 33 knockouts.
Townley, a redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher, made six starts for the Tigers and 17 overall appearances on the mound with one win on the year. He boasted a 3.98 ERA and tossed 36 strikeouts.
Gonzales, a sophomore infielder, finished the year with 36 hits, including seven doubles and three triples. He scored 23 runs and 24 RBIs, while drawing 18 walks and stealing four bases.
Tucker, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, made eight appearances on the mound for RCC and had two saves on the year. He threw seven strikeouts in nine innings pitched.
Betten, a redshirt freshman utility, played in 13 games for the Tigers and finished with two hits. He scored four runs and was a perfect 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.
McBride, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, made seven appearances on the hill for RCC and grabbed one win. He tossed eight strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched and allowed just three earned runs
