
Tiger Men 2nd, Women 3rd at Golden West Classic
HUNTINGTON BEACH - The Riverside City men used five top-25 finishes to take second as a team at the Golden West Central Park Classic and the women also had a strong performance, taking third as a team.
On the men's side, Anthony Ruiz was the first RCC runner across the line, taking 14th with a time of 21:22.62. The Tigers picked up the majority of their points just a few spots later with sophomore Kailil O'Brien taking 19th in a time of 21:34.40 and was joined by Martin Torres-Sandoval (20th, 21:35.48), Daniel Nava (21st, 21:35.66), and Jorge Guillen (22nd, 21:38.47).
"The guys continue to pack well very early in the season," said head coach Jim McCarron.
On the women's side, Nadia Munoz paced the Tigers, taking fourth with a time of 19:15.94. Celeste Mendoza and Citlaly Ruiz finished 24th and 25th respectively with times of 21:44.88 and 21:48.38.
Riverside will have two weeks before its next meet, taking the course next on Oct. 4 at the SoCal Preview.
