Riverside Runs to First-place Finish in Inaugural Riverside Flying Tigers Invite Friday
RIVERSIDE -- Finishing with five racers in the top 14, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's cross country team won its inaugural Riverside Flying Tigers Invitational Friday morning (Oct. 9) at the City of Riverside's Cross Country Course.
Riverside won the 3.1-mile race with a team score of 27 points, followed by the Chaffey College Panthers (46 points), the Pasadena City College Lancers (80), the Victor Valley College (VVC) Rams (94) and the College of the Desert (COD) Roadrunners (108).
Riverside was led by sophomore Brianna Jacklin, who was third overall (19:22.65), followed by frosh Natalie Vaughn (Corona / Santiago HS '15), who was fourth overall (19:29.24), sophomore Crystal Tejeda, who was fifth overall (19:56.45), sophomore Liliana Vargas (Eastvale / Eleanor Roosevelt HS '14), who was 12th overall (21:03.01), and frosh Alexis Louis (Riverside / Poly HS '15), who was 14th overall (21:04.06).
Aminat Olowora, a sophomore from Southwestern College, won the race with an amazing time of 16:35.09.
The Tigers will return to action on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Orange Empire Conference Championships at 10 a.m. at Irvine Regional Park.
