
Two RCC Doubles Teams, One Singles Player Advance at 3C2A State Championship
Riverside City College has one singles player and two doubles teams still competing at the 3C2A State Championship after the second day.
Janine Kremling is still battling in singles competition after defeating Marina Wills from Solano Community College 6-0, 6-4 in the Round of 32. She followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Jasmine Palomera from Fresno City College to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals, where she will take on American River College's Aileena Hu at 8 a.m.
Jordyn Sundberg battled in her Round of 32 and took the match to three sets but couldn't overcome Emma Patterson from Sierra College (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Sundberg and Madison Reynoso defeated a doubles team from the College of the Canyons 6-4, 6-3 to secure their spot in the Sweet 16 on Saturday. Sundberg gets a chance at redemption as the Tigers will face Sierra's Patterson and her partner, Erin Johnson, at 11 a.m.
Kremling and Denise Campbell dominated their Round of 32 opponents from West Valley College 6-0, 6-0 to advance to Saturday, where they will take on Angelina Palmerin and Betty Gezahegne from San Diego City College at 11 a.m.
Julianna Capraro and Caroline Cocker couldn't overcome their doubles opponent to bow out after the Round of 32.
