Riverside Sweeps Its Way to Regional Semifinal

Riverside City College picked up a 6-0 victory over Santa Monica City College in the first round of the 3C2A SoCal Regional on Tuesday.

The Tigers improve to 11-3 on the year and advance to the next round, while the Corsairs end the year with an 8-8 mark.

RCC's doubles teams each downed their opponents fairly early to put the Tigers up 3-0 early in the clinching rules format, with the first team to five matches wins.

Denise Campbell kept momentum in the Tigers' favor with the first singles win of the day, downing her opponent 6-0, 6-0 to put RCC up 4-0.

Needing just one more singles match win, both Julianna Capraro and Bridget Bradbury finished within seconds of each other to give Riverside the 6-0 team victory. Capraro won her singles match 6-3, 6-3; while Bradbury picked up 6-1, 6-2 wins.

The Tigers will face the top seed Bakersfield College on Tuesday, looking for a spot in Friday's regional championship game.
