Tigers Earn OEC Postseason Honors

After winning a share of the Orange Empire Conference Championship, Riverside City College saw several Tigers earn top postseason honors.

Nikki Bonzoumet was named the OEC Coach of the Year, while Emily Thieme was named the Player of the Year along with Doubles Team of the Year with her partner Janine Kremling.

Bonzoumet was voted the Coach of the Year by her peers after leading the Tigers to a 7-1 conference mark to win the regular-season title. It's Riverside's second conference title in three seasons.

Thieme has had a standout collegiate debut and currently holds an 11-4 overall singles record. She won all but one OEC singles matches she's played in, with the only loss coming when she couldn't finish a match due to injury despite leading it 5-0.

The doubles pair of Thieme and Kremling has been dominant against every opponent they've faced, boasting an undefeated 13-0 doubles record heading into the postseason.

Riverside heads to Cypress College on Thursday and Friday for the OEC Championship Tournament, looking to qualify for the SoCal Championship next week.
