Women’s Tennis Earns SoCal’s Second Seed, Hosts No. 7 Bakersfield on Tuesday

The Riverside City College women's tennis team has earned the second seed in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional playoffs after finishing the season with an impressive 10-2 record.

Seven of the Tigers 10 wins came in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action as they earned a Co-Conference title with Orange Coast College. OCC earned the third seed in the southern bracket.

Riverside went on a tear throughout March as they dropped one match by one point. In each victory, the Tigers won by at least three points highlighted by two straight sweep and five games with eight or more points.

Sophomore Torrey Mateljan leads the team as the top player after being named the OEC's CO-Most Valuable Player. She was named he third seed in the OEC playoffs and received a first round bye. The tournament begins on Thursday, April 7 at Saddleback College.

Freshman Samantha Treat follows as the second strongest player and earned the fifth overall seed. Freshman Keeley Arendt, Jillian Stark, Semaj Walter and Marvonna Vaxter round out the lineup for the Tigers.
