Tigers Break Three Records on First Day of 3C2A Meet

Riverside City College kicked off the first day of the 3C2A State Championship with three broken records and sits in third as a team with 114 points – less than 30 points behind first place.

RCC's 200-yard free relay team (Yousef Nahali, Jeremiah Ireland, Lennon Franklin, and Zekiah Serrano) bettered their own record and took second in one minute, 22.08 seconds – less than .5 seconds off first place. Nahali set a new record in the 50-yard free after posting a time of 20.51 seconds after leading off the relay.

The Tigers' 400-yard medley relay team took second and saw Franklin better his own school record in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing the first leg of the relay in 50.37 seconds. It helped Riverside finish with a time of 3:19.23.

Serrano grabbed third in the men's 50-yard free with a time of 20.58 seconds, while Nahali took fifth in 20.92 seconds. Franklin also posted a top 10 time of 20.95 seconds to take ninth place.

On the 3-meter diving board, Zachary McDonald took 10th with a score of 164.10.

The Tigers continue the three-day championship meet on Friday, back at Santa Rosa Junior College.
