RCC Grabs Second at First OEC Meet

Riverside City College took second at the first Orange Empire Conference meet of the season with 601.5 team points.

Orange Coast College won the meet with a score of 690.5, while Golden West College grabbed third (585), Cypress College took fourth (250), and Saddleback College finished fifth (218).

The RCC 200-yard free relay team of Yousef Nahali, Lennon Franklin, Jared Ladinez and Zeke Serrano led things off with a first-place finish in 1:26.43. The foursome also won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:33.97 to take first.

Nahali won the 50-yard free in 20.85 seconds, followed by Serrano in second (21.31 seconds) and Franklin in third (21.59 seconds).

However, Serrano won the 100-yard butterfly between the trio, clocking in at 51.58 seconds. Franklin followed in 53.36 seconds and Nahali rounded out the top three with a time of 55.72 seconds.

Serrano also won the 100 IM with a time of 54.38 seconds, edging out Franklin in second (55.95 seconds) and Ladinez in third (57.49 seconds).

Vincent Fierro led a bunch of Tigers in the 500-yard free, touching the wall in 4:59.53 to take first place.

Jeremiah Ireland took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.32, while Fierro followed in second at 1:54.39.

Ladinez posted a time of 58.07 seconds to win the 100-yard breaststroke and won the 100 free in 51.44 seconds – just edging out fellow Tiger Damion Montague's time of 51.81 seconds.

Geoffrey Smith won the 100-yard back in 1:05.03 and Nathan Ferguson took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:40.56.

The Tigers return home to host the Riverside Invitational next weekend, which will conclude Saturday.
