Tigers Take Second at Riverside Invitational

Riverside City College hosted the Riverside Invitational over Friday and Saturday and saw some big performances.

The Tigers took second with 812.5 points, just behind Orange Coast College in first with 999.5 points. Golden West College rounded out the top three with 692 points.

RCC won multiple relay events, including the 200-yard free relay, the 200-yard medley relay, the 400-yard free relay and the 400-yard medley relay.

Yousef Nahali, Damion Montague, Lennon Franklin, Zekiah Serrano teamed up to win the 200 free relay in 1:26.35. Franklin, Serrano and Nahali then won the 200 medley relay with Jared Ladinez with a time of 1:35.70.

The 400 free relay team (Nahali, Franklin, Ladinez, and Serrano) finished in 3:11.88 – almost eight seconds faster than the runner-up. Ireland, Ladinez, Davis DeAnda and Nahali teamed up to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:31.75.

The 800 free team (Serrano, Jeremiah Ireland, Ladinez, Franklin) took second in 7:13.13.

Nahali won the 50-yard free with a time of 21.54 seconds, while Franklin took third in 21.67 seconds.

Serrano won the 100 individual medley, clocking in at 53.00 seconds flat – more than 1.5 seconds faster than his competition – and won the 100 fly in 50.55 seconds.

Ladinez won the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.61 seconds and took second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:10.80     

Zachary McDonald won both diving boards, scoring a 181.95 on the 3-meter and a 198.00 on the 1-meter.

Riverside is back at home on Friday, hosting the second Orange Empire Conference meet of the year.
