
Riverside Cruises Past Fullerton, 3-0
RIVERSIDE - It didn't take long for Riverside City College to improve to 3-0 in OEC play as the Tigers made quick work of visiting Fullerton, 25-13, 25-16, 25-16, on Wednesday night in Wheelock Gym.
The Tigers and Hornets traded points early in the first set but a 12-2 run put RCC up big as they earned the 25-13 set one win.
The Tigers continued the momentum into the second set, building a 7-1 lead before Fullerton fought back to get back within a point at 9-8. Riverside again went on the attack, rebuilding the big lead to take set two, 25-16.
The third set was the most consistent of the night but Riverside continued to earn points, picking up a 25-16 win to secure the sweep.
Jaeda Whitmire led the Tigers with 11 kills on 18 swings and Kilyn Hayes put up 10 kills on 17 attacks. Alyssa Bishop dished out 15 assists and Riley Chaffee added 11 assists in the win. As a whole, 15 players appeared in the match for the Tigers, who hit .324 on the match.
Riverside will try to stay undefeated in conference play on Friday night when they travel to play Orange Coast. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
