IRVINE - Falling behind two sets to none, the Riverside City Tigers completed the comeback at Irvine Valley, picking up a five-set win over the Lasers on Friday night.
After dropping the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-20, the Tigers used a 25-17 win in the third set to begin the climb back. After a 25-23 win in the fourth set, RCC carried the momentum into the fifth and final set, posting a 15-11 score to win the match three sets to two.
The Tigers were led by 25 kills on 63 swings by Kilyn Hayes, who also added four aces, nine digs and three block assists in the win. Jaeda Whitmire also finished with double-digit kills with 10, also adding eight block assists for RCC. Alyssa Bishop finished with 22 points and 11 digs while Riley Chaffee put up 19 assists and 19 digs. Tabitha Irish also contributed on defense, finishing with 18 digs.
Riverside will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host Fullerton in OEC play. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
