RIVERSIDE - Playing inside the friendly confines of Wheelock Gym, the Riverside City Tigers got back in the win column with a four-set win over College of the Desert on Wednesday night.
In the first set, the Tigers overcame a late deficit, scoring four of the final five points to take the lead with a 25-23 win. After cruising to a 25-15 set two win, the visiting Roadrunners dominated the third set, 25-9, to force a fourth frame. Unfortunately for COD, Riverside dominated the final set, using a 25-14 win to clinch the match.
The Tigers were led by 15 kills and 11 digs from Kilyn Hayes. Nicole Barrera and Jaeda Whitmire added 10 kills each in the win while Alyssa Bishop and Riley Chafee split setting duties and finished wiht 17 and 15 assists respectively. Chaffee and Tabitha Irish were also forces defensively, finishing with 13 digs in the win.
RCC will be back at it on Friday night, traveling to Irvine Valley for the Orange Empire Conference opener.
